decisions decisions

I'm needing a new computer soon but I'm having trouble making a decision. I want a 64 bit amd x2 with vista. easy enough right, but I do web design on the side. Will my copies of flash 8, dreamweaver 8, fireworks 8 work with vista 64? Am I better off with sticking to xp? Keep in mind my current system is a 1.5 ghz p4 w/ 256 ram system that I have long since out grown. I would love to have the shiny new vista on a new 19" lcd widescreen, but not if it is buggy and will not run my software, that isn't all that old in the first place. Should I just stick with a 32 bit intel core duo with xp? I'd love to switch to linux, but i haven't found anything that compares to my macromedia/adobe software. What are your thoughts? Any vista 64's out there with encouragement?

This thread has a list of the software that is compatible: http://www.computerforum.com/79375-vista-software-compatibility.html

As for the Macromedia stuff, it looks like all of the version 8 portions are completely compatible. Definitely go with the new dual-core processor, as for Vista, the only really common problem I've come across/heard of so far is some driver support issues for printers, scanners and various other accessories. Do a check on the manufacturer's website for Vista compatible drivers before you install the new OS. And if you need to buy a new printer, not all of them come with Vista drivers, make sure the one you buy has them available.
