I have a 8800gtx sitting here not being used, If i throw it in with my 295 as a PhysX card how would i set that up so my mobo knows what its for? And would it have any improvment? I know i wouldnt see it if it did because i already destroy games but its better then not using it.

im not sure, just throw it in and find out. I think with all the drivers install for your 295, it will know that your primary card and then take a look in nvidia control panel. 3dmark it first, so you can see if you get an improvement.

I'm not going to say anything about the PSU, because I have had no direct experience with Kingwin and have never heard any reviews on their PSUs.

To make it a PhysX card, you'll need to go into the drivers and enable the card as primary PhysX or something along those lines.

if u were adding another 295, then I would worry about your psu, but we talkin about a 8800, im sure a 700 watt psu will be ok. I used to have two OCed 8800gt's on a 500 watt psu, with no problem.

That was true about the first phsyx cards, but not anymore. The first cards had a low bandwidth and sometimes actually would decrease performance.

Well the oldest cards that support PhsyX are the 8000 series and I have a 8800gtx so wouldnt that fall into the old ones?

I doubt it. although, the 8xxx series do use PCI-E 1.1, which is about 5% slower than PCI-E 2.0 on paper... real world tests reveal <1% differences.

The 8800GTX should be plenty for dedicated PhysX. I think moto meant actualy PhysX cards. like before Aegia was taken over by nvidia, Aegia had PhysX cards IIRC

No, i'm talking about actual phsyx cards. They never hit mainstream which is why you probably haven't heard of them. They were cards, usually PCI, that only did phsyx. They worked great on extremely intensive tasks, but games the don't have very much phsyx required, it couldn't work to its full potential, and the slow bus speeds actually dropped framerates slightly.

i just put in my 8800gt as a physx card and my 3dmark06 score dropped by 400 points. Now its comin out for good.
