Defrag

I am trying to defrag a Dell Dimension 1100 Computer. When I go to analyze this message pops up
"Computer is set to run "Chkdsk/f."
Please run this message.
When i go to "run" and type this in nothing happens. Everytime I try the defgrag option I get this.
The machine OS is XP.
I installed more ram today but everything else works fine.
Thanks for anyone that vcan help me.
 
go into run and type cmd this will open a comand prompt .. in here type "chkdsk f:\" this will run a check disk on f drive witch is what it wants to do if im reading it right
