I saved some picture files into the thumb drive. I am able to view the files but now unable to delete or make changes. Each time I try to delete, it says path unable to identify.

Anyone able to help or advise?

do you mean a usb stick/ pen drive? lol ive never heard of a thumb drive.

They are also called thumb drives.

bukitimah- Try formatting the drive. Plug it in, and when it shows up in "My Computer", right click on it and click "Format". Be aware that this will erase everything on the drive.

also make sure that your drive is not locked i.e there is a switch on the side on some models which locks the files from being viewed etc.

I have had that happen to me a few times.

Is there any file/s on it which you do not know what they are? And you can't delete them? If so you will need to, unfortunately, format your thumb drive.....

I used the explore and click the right mouse to format, it reads 'windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utlities or other programs that are using this drive and make sure that no window is displaying the contents of the drive then try formatiting again.'

I then turn to my computer and right click on the thumb drive to format. It says 'windows was unable to complete the format'.

So how now?

How to go to 'safe mode' for thumb drive? You mean when the computer starts up, press Escape then select safe mode? Appreciate step by step advice.

Thanks

Yeah, just boot up Windows in safe mode (Press ESC, F8, whatever it is) and select safe mode. After the computer has booted up in safe mode, try formatting the thumb drive, whilest still in safe mode.
