so im going to clear the hard drive on one of my computers but i might need to get quickbooks off of there. do i need a burner to copy it on to cd? or can i copy it? also is it ok for me to delete hard drive? it has windows xp pro but i have a xp home that i already installed on this computer. will that still be fine? its not aboslutely neccasary for my to delete it but i would like to

well for the quick books you'll need to backup your data then you'll have to reinstall the program which means you'll need the origonal install disc. Also what do you mean by delete the hard drive? are you trying to erase everything on it in order to start fresh?

Find the quickbooks file and copy it to a thumb drive, or burn it to a CD. Either or should be just fine. However, I would try and test the copied files before doing much else. You don't want to clear your drive and realize you forgot something!

As for clearing off your computer, what kind are we talking about here... Is it one that came with DVDs or possibly a restore partition on the hard drive? Or do you just have a Windows XP disk to reload.

well if i want to i can get a xp disc from dell. the reason im deleting the hard drive is because its a small 40 gig and its a family computer and i used it for gaming a little so it just filled up kinda fast.
