Deleting Internet Explorer

When I try to delete Internet Explorer it doesn't let me. I tried to use delete doctor and delete the files 1 after one, but it just kept saying access denied.
Can anyone help me? How can I delete it? Do you know any program or anything?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

Do this:
  • Control Panel
  • Add/Remove Programs
  • Add/Remove Windows Components
  • Uncheck IE
  • Hit next, and follow any additional prompts

If you installed Windows XP SP3 on your computer after you installed Internet Explorer 7 or 8, you need to uninstall Windows XP Service Pack 3 before you can uninstall Internet Explorer 7, even then it will revert back to 6.
Internet Explorer is closely tied in with Windows processes and cannot be uninstalled without trouble, it is best to disable it only.

In Windows 7 it still won't completely uninstall since Internet Explorer's rendering engine is also used throughout Windows and with third-party applications, only the executable is actually removed.

Basically if your computer did let you remove IE's component files your Windows OS could end up very unstable, so no, it can't be done

Won't use another like firefox that i know of.
Like at update.microsoft.com

Delete it off the desktop and call it a day.
Ya might need it. On the other hand it might be your backdoor.

You can never really delete it, but all you need to do is follow bkribbs instructions about disabling it.

download revo uninstaller. Try that...it does a nice clean uninstall then checks the registry for left over bits and removes them as well. Agree with other posters tho...I would just disable it and not remove all together. Firefox has crashed on me more than once and needed to use IE to download firefox again.

Don't even disable it, just don't use it. As said its incorporated into the operating system and you could run into issues if you try to get rid of it and you would have to reinstall windows.

You can download FireFox and make it your default internet browser. You can delete it from your desktop and start menu. But DON'T uninstall it. And perhaps you need it you can allways search for it. Heres an article from Microsoft.

Important You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 8 if it is set as not removable. This occurs if you install Internet Explorer 8 before you install Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows XP. If this scenario applies to you, then you must uninstall SP3 before you can uninstall Internet Explorer 8. 950719 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950719/ ) You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 after you install Windows XP Service Pack 3

In my opinion there is no need to uninstall Internet Explorer. Like the guy mentioned above me, you can always get a different program to use for browsing the internet and set it as default. I never use my Internet Explorer but i do keep it just in case if i have problems with my main program (Mozilla Firefox).
