Deleting Viruses

Hey all, I need some help with a virus.

I was using a p2p file sharing program one day. I went to go to open the file which was directed to "My Documents". I got a prompt that popped up saying:

"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

This prompt tells me to tell Windows about my problem. After doing that, "My Documents" goes into a "Not Responding" mode and I need to Ctrl+Alt+Delete it. Occasionally after I do that, my active desktop dissapears and I get the screen that tells that I have lost it.

I know I have a virus in "My Documents", I want to get rid of it. I've tried deleting "My Documents", I've even tried to just delete my XP account of the log in screen from the system administrator.

If there is anyway to get rid of this problem, please help. I want "My Documents" back!

PS. I've tried running virus checks on "My Documents" but the scan fails.:(

well an anti virus probably wont help cuz its infected most of your hd. you could try formatting but ive heard it doesent work well against viruses. :o

I'm pretty sure formatting your hard drive would get rid of the virus, but that is a bit of a drastic action to take (unless you dont have many files that you want?)

I don't really have the rights to my computer. It's a family computer and my parents aren't in the know about this problem. It hasen't been affecting their login's at all.

Is there maybe a program that can indefinatly delete a certain program or file?
