deleting windows on ide drive

i recently bought a sata drive for my machine and disconnected the ide drive while loading win vista then 7 onto the new sata drive, how do i get rid of the os on the ide drive now and access the installed programs like virus protection etc without physically copying them onto the sata?

You can't access them in that sort of way. You would need to reinstall all programs that you want to run on your new installation, as most programs add entries into the registry so that it works correctly.

oh ok thanks. can i just delete the windows folder on the ide drive now? is there anything important i need to keep?

you can delete the whole windowws folder on the old drive, no problem. easiest way to clear everything off of it would be to format it.
