Greetings all,

1)...I have a Dell 20''??...21''?? LCD monitor that has 5 recessed push-buttons at the lower right front panel of it's "case"...

2)...The power button. a P.O.S. in quality, is non-functional and, is in the "ON" position (still usable) but, unable to be switched "OFF" so, I pull the cord.......

3)...I have had the monitor apart but, cannot figure out how to detach the ribbon wire/cable from the rest of the monitor, buttons included....

4)....I have a "donor" monitor of same brand, configuration, and size but, I refer you to #3......

Has anyone ever done this before and if so, please advise....

THANKS...

Got a photo of it. Some you press the side clips in and pull. Some you push a clip in and pull. Some you have to snap the clips out to the side and pull. So it depends

?????????

Ya lost me......To be clear, I can separate/open the case.......Here is a pict of the buttons........I need to remove the button array from inside the case and circuit board...Opening the case is easy....

Honestly more work in labor than the monitor is worth walking you through every individual step. IYKYK

I'd use a smart plug or just leave it in standby.

However, I would not have the satisfaction or gain any knowledge doing it myself, success or failure...Although, it does appear that nobody knows here...

I am already generally doing that...Plug it in when I need it, the reverse when I don't

YES........there is a ribbon cable that connects to the "button board" which connects to the plastic frame. That cable goes to the main circuit board....That is as general as I can be.....Tried this a few months back so, figured I would attempt it again....I cannot dislodge it...If I can figure that out, I have a fighting chance........Ok, night time here, 11:30pm eastern U.S., going to bed..........Will ck back sometime in the morning......

Those buttons look old... what model is it? You can find it usually in the area you put the stand, or the bottom left (if you are looking at it from the back) and it should start with P or H.

Doesn't the monitor have a model number somewhere? Like a sticker on the back. Back up some and take a photo. That close up it kinda looks like it might snap on from the front. Plus take a photo from the inside too.

The monitor is probably 20 years old. Looks like an old Ultrasharp from the mid-late 2000's

Let me clarify....

1)....I can remove the case from around the monitor
.....

2)...I cannot figure out as to how to detach the 4- button array from the case
(and circuit board) as I have not tried teh circuit board yet)......

3)...The "button" pict I posted was a bit dark but, monitor is in great shape...

4)...I know how to detach the stand from the monitor...

5)...I know where the model number is (Couriant) but, simply didn't post it...

6)...I may try to give it a shot again in a few days.....

7)....I will attempt to take a few picts.....
