Dell 8200 Not Dimming on Battery

I just installed a second battery in place of my floppy drive. I ran the bios disk well. However I did not get nearly the amount of extra battery time that I expected.

After investigating I noticed that the screen no longer dims when I unplug the laptop. Does anybody know how I can fix this setting?

you're probably running quick set which allows you to use your function keys on dell laptops, you should see the icon in the bottom right corner of your computer check the settings there because i think thats what determins whether or not your screen dims when your unplug the power.
 
Dell laptops let you set what brightness the laptop should use when on AC and when on battery. Perhaps you should check those settings (they're in the BIOS).
