dell 8400 ram

Hi i just bought a dell 8400 computer and i want to fill it with ram, does anyone know what ram this computer takes, dell say it can take upto 4gb but im not sure 4gb of what its usually 2gb of one type of ram or 4gb of another

does anyone know?

http://www.crucial.com - the memory checker utility there is very good at finding what memory you want, but don't buy it from Crucial, you can get it cheaper at www.newegg.com.

I have the 8400 also.
here's the RAM i got with it.
1GB DDR2 SDRAM @400 MHz

I ended up adding 2 more GIGs to make a total of 3.
But yes, use the Crucial memory checker, thats what I did and it works great.
I just went to FRY's electronics and got my new ram, but going threw Crucial would be better i think.
