Dell 9400... Vista Ultimate!

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 9400, it currently has 512MB its got an Intel CPU (1.66GHZ, T2300). Im about to upgrade the ram to 2GB (2x1gb). I has an intel media 950 128mb shared graphics... I want to upgrade to Vista ultimate 64-bit. What do I need to upgrade from that list and what should I upgrade to??

i dont think you can upgrade laptop graphics card for that model.

thats a graphics card for the 9400... If I can get that graphics card fitted, would I be able to run vista ult 64-bit?

It says its for the dell inspiron 9400 in the listing...

It definately is cos its the mobility radeon

you were right... i can't upgrade the graphics because it's intergrated... So if i want to upgrade the graphics i need to upgrade the motherboard to... Any suggestions which motherboard I should upgrade to?

pal dont even try to use a different motherboard on a laptop, the case will never match the spaces alotted for certain parts of your laptop's innerds, like where the ram goes, there is a certain spot under your laptop where you should be able to just pop off a little cover and change your ram, but on a different motherboard, the ram might be places elsewhere... oh and the dc jacks on them is often different as well (placement-wise)

1) AS A GENERAL RULE, LAPTOPS ARE NOT UPGRADEABLE* (with exeption to RAM & HDD)
2) VERY FEW LAPTOPS HAVE THE ABILITY TO UPGRADE MAIN PARTS WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS SUCH AS CPU/GPU, MUCH LESS THE MO-BO.
3) IF YOU FIND THE PARTS TO UPGRADE YOUR LAPTOP, IT WILL MOST LIKELY BE TOO EXPENSIVE TO JUSTIFY.
4) JUST SHUT UP AND BUY A NEW COMPUTER.

*i define "upgradeable" as being able to use after market parts, excluding RAM and HDD*
