dell desktops, proprietary ram?

for the following computer; (Dell Optiplex GX260 Tower-Pentium 4 2.5 GHz) is the ram proprietary? i guess what i am asking is, can i walk into best buy for example and buy a stick of ram and snap it in w/o it being from dell? what type of ram would it use?.....thanks again!!
 
No it's not propriety, you can get any non-ECC ram to a max of 1GB per stick. You have 2 slots so check if they are both filled already.

no problem...i was inquiring because someone told me that the ram was proprietary and i thought it was not...now, i am looking for a decent and inexpensive heatsink and fan combo for a dell computer b110
2.55ghz?...i want to replace the crappy duct system with an "on cpu" fan - heatsink setup....any links handy since i don't know what i am looking for (socket?).......thanks!
