Hi I just got a laptop from ebay and it works great expect for two things the fan is always running at full speed and my hard drive is on caution ,i tested it with crystal can i use any brand of HD to replace the drying one. I have Seagate HD in my laptop right now.

Yes you can use any hard drive.

The E6410 is a pretty old machine these days, so it will probably run fairly warm.

You could remove the heatsink and apply some fresh thermal paste.

Another tactic with these laptops is to use a thin copper schim between the CPU and the heatsink. I don't remember the exact size but you should be able to find something on ebay.

Depending on the drive, the drive bay might be a bit cooler, but that doesn't have a huge influence on how often the CPU fan is running.

You also probably want to dust out the heatsink, applying thermal paste is also a good option. Laptop heatsinks are pretty dinky and it only takes a small amount of dust to make a large difference.

What drive did you get? The drive should have fit no problems since you usually have a caddy to put it in.

That's a standard laptop hard drive, not sure why you would have a problem with it fitting.
