Hello all.
Right well I have a Dell Dimension E521 given to me to fix for a friend of mine and I've ran into a rather odd situation after having formatted it. I formatted it with a stand alone Windows XP CD as opposed to having used the Dell clogged up with crap and spyware CD's and when the computer restarts / boots it gives me a boot option. It asks me if I would like to boot to 'Windows XP Professional' or 'Windows XP Professional' and I was wondering why?
When formatting it I completely deleted all partitions on the HDD and created one large partition using all available space to me and then formatted that as normal (NTFS). I formatted that machine exactly as I formatted my own computer and I don't get this issue with my machine. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm formatting it for a third time to see if that gets rid of this but I would have thought the first and second time should have been enough especially with me completely removing the partitions and creating a stand alone single one.
I'm not used to playing around with Dell computers (I stay clear of them) so any help would be most welcomed. Why does it ask me to select one option when both are the same, why does it ask me at all and not just boot to XP Professional when there is only one install of it on there?
Best regards,
Rove.
