Dell Gaming PCs?

Ok, since we got our laptops through Dell, my parents are wanting me to buy my PC from them as well. Here is what I found but want to know if its a good deal.

Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E6300 (2MB L2 Cache,1.86GHz,1066 FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs
250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst
Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer
20 inch UltraSharp™ 2007WFP Widescreen Digital Flat Panel
256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

For $1499. I found it on the gaming section of their website, but its not the fancy XPS case. I can always just buy a new case right?

it will be cheaper to buy a custom pc and build it yourself but if you dont want to i recomend dell. that pc should be fine for most games

Dell Gaming PCs?

Oxymoron.

Could be built for $1000 at the very most.

And if you're completely against building yourself, buy the cheapest E6300 machine you can, and buy the RAM and graphics card separately. Their not hard at all to install.

aslong as newegg allow that then yea. im sure someone on here will put you up the best system for your budget

BUILD YOUR OWN.

it might take some getting used to, but i bet your parents have only bought from dell thus have had no other experiences in the industry.

I am a complete dummy about PC' and building one. But I listened to these guys and ladies in this forum and put mine together. By myself, no problems. <check my age anyone can do it LOL:D

What's more you can't upgrade Dell's easily thanks to the dreaded BTX form factor, most motherboards now made are ATX or µATX. It's a good idea but it's hopeless if you plan to get a new motherboard, PSU etc...

if you don't want to build, don't get a dell. They use the cheapest hardware, and the quality just isn't the same. My HP, for example, has an MSI motherboard and Crucial ram from the factory. For big brands, go HP.

Funny story about that. I informed my roommate that the new PSU he bought wouldn't work on his dell. Well he installed it anyway and fried his motherboard. I told him to look at the pin configuration on the plug going to the motherboard. Of course they were different, it's a dell.

You cna get the same rig I have for under $1000 and I love it to death. Great gaming, and I'm an AMD fanboy. Granted I own both the C2D and spend most of my time on that computer .. but it's because it's my macbook. For a PC I'm allways AMD.

$1499 is alot for that type of system. If you compare it to other pre-builts, it's decent, but compared to a custom, you could get a much better system for roughly the same price.

Look If u dont want to pay $3000+ for an Alienware and people are saying that dell isn't the best deal go to a small local computer store See what they have. They usually give the best deals and they have a good selection. You basically custom build your pc they just assemble it for you. Trust me try it. See if u can get something better then what u are paying for from dell.

Yea trust a guy with 6 post who has no idea about what's talking ... , leaving that aside, build it yourself since dell sucks, and hp gives crappy things

I agree to build it yourself if you are able, however if you can't then get an HP, the best of the big brands. MY system was actually cheaper to buy an HP on sale then build it myself .. so that worked out for me. Sometimes you can find deals like that. My rig was under $1000 with all the software I need as well (vista etc)
