Can't seem to get my Inpirion to boot. A few weeks ago it refused to boot. Powers up but then two led's appear, scroll (arrow down) and caps (A) begin to blink and the power goes out. I tested the components, hdd, processor etc, and assumed the problem to be the motherboard which I replaced. Worked fine for a week or so, then the same thing happened. Bought this new and did no work on it prior to the problem. This problem can't be that unique. Any suggestions?

the wrong power supply or faulty power supply? Its probably something to do with it getting it overloaded somehow, not sure though.

well its quite possible that the power supply is the problem and it damamged your motherboard...but if you get a replacement motherboard (another one, I know) and power supply it may well solve the problem...but the motherboard may well be permanently damaged. Are you still using all the things that came with the laptop other than the motherboard (as in you havent upgraded/replaced anything else?)

theres a troubleshooting thing you can go through on the dell website also, can't remember what it's called, but it takes you through various things to try. Also, is it under warranty? cuz you could ring them up or send it back or get them to come and fix it if it is.

I have not replaced anything except the motherboard. It is not under warranty. And the dell website does not appear to be any help on this one. I just thought that maybe someone has had the two blinking led's and that would lead to a reason for the non boot and perhaps a solution. Thanks for your interest. Everything helps.
