Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop Problem

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15-3521 from Best Buy today and read online that I could downgrade to windows 7 since this laptop was released with windows 7 initially. I launched windows 8 and inserted the windows 7 pro disk and started installation in windows. The installation started and was going well until the restart. At the restart, the computer would not move past the windows logo part. I shut it off and turned it back on after waiting 30 minutes.

Now the problem started. It boots and gives me 2 choices:
1) Windows Setup Rollback
2) Windows 8

When I chose option 1, it goes back to trying to load windows 7 setup but reboots after 30 seconds.

When I chose option 2, it just reboots asking to pick an option once again.

Also, my dvd drive was being shown in bios before but now is not, so I have no way of booting from disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Should I just return this laptop?

To get rid of windows 8, you need to boot to the windows 7 install cd and then wipe the drive and then install 7, can't do it from inside 8. If the bios doesn't detect the dvd drive anymore, then you might have to take it back. Try installing again.

Remove all non-necessary hardware particularly USB and set the bios to default and restart.

Then go back into the bios and correctly set the boot priority as DVD then primary HDD.

Try again. This is a hardware issue. Install windows with the minimum hardware installed (physically) and then add it once you get windows to work.
