To start this thread off i will just say i am not a fan of dell computers at all but at the moment with my computer being down i am just left with this one.

Ok so here is the issue about 3 years ago when the laptop was purchased we decided to go with a better graphics card being the 8600 M well no good although i haven't played any demanding games with it yet i just went into everest to check its specs and i get a massively underclocked card come up. Very annoying this is.

It throttles up the performance only when you are in a 3d application. While in a 2d environment the card is down clocked to save power.

Ah i see its like the core i7 how it underclocks itself when its just sitting on the desktop in 2d as you guys said.

Alot of graphics cards and cpus have this function....been around for ages now. :)

Ha ha yes but as you can see from last build my pc's specs i am a bit behind the times. Hopefully its not too far away. :)

Edit: Bahaha i just seen in everest on the pic how it says standard, performance and 3d apps i guess i just saw the clocks and thought there was something going on here and came straight to you guys.
