So I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 that has 3.0GB of ram and I would like to add one more GB. The question is how do I find out the type of ram I need to get and if my computer can even handle another GB, which I think it can. Any info would help.

Thanks guys.

Your laptop can handle up to 4gb, however, if you are running a 32bit operating system there is no sense in getting the extra ram, especially if its XP. What operating system do you have?

as tec savvy said the os wont use it its limited to something like 3.5-3.6gig so no point in adding more unless your really eating up ram for example at load my computer uses about 2.5 gig of my 6 gig of ram the other 3 gig is just kinda their my processor would probably slow me down first before i even hit the 4 gig mark..

Depends on what you do with it. If you use RAM intensive applications, I am given to understand that XP can use up to 3.5 Gig; so there is room to add a half gig and get some gain. I am running 4 Gig in this XP machine, because I figured I might as well max it out since some files that I process run up to 2.5 Gig in size.
