Dell inspiron 600m woes.

If nobody upgraded the RAM, and when you bought it was 256MB, then that was just a false alarm.

Below that little XP Home Edition tag is a 25 digit/letter COA. Do NOT let anyone see it, give it or show that to anyone. Now, call Microsoft and ask about their CD's. Say you lost it (which you did) and they should send you whatever OS CD that you need (read it out, EVERYTHING). Now you saved like $60 for another OS :)

You better make haste and not waste time buying a copy of XP. They are about to be pulled off the shelves pretty quick. XP is a great OS, however, MS's recent OS, Vista, is horrible that I had bought a new PC that had it installed and wiped it off my hard disk and put Linux on it. Linux is free, adaptable, configurable, secure, and almost always free. What you can do on Windows you can do on a Linux distro. My favorite is Fedora, and then Ubuntu, both of which I use. I also like Sun Solaris, however, I don't want more than 2 OSes on my machine so I am going to buy a laptop and erase Windows and put Solaris on it.

I dont know if I can do all that. I dont know to much about this kind of thing. But I did already put in a request for a new disk from dell even though there is no warrenty cause I gave them a hard time and one with microsoft as well. Thanks guys.
