Dell Latitude Help

I just got a Dell Latitude at a very good price but with any good deal comes a few problems. The screen needs to be replaced on this one and I'm trying to find out which screen I need to get. I've seen there are a few different types for the Dell Latitude C640, I just don't know which I have and if they're all compatible. Would anyone be able to tell me how or where I could figure this out?

Also I wanted to do an upgrade on the processor and just out of curiousity, can you put an Intel Core 2 Duo in a Latitude C640? If so, what would that all require?

I'm not totally sure, but I highly doubt you could put a core 2 duo in an old C640. Check the socket type in a documentation.

its very hard to upgrade laptops. The onlt thing you can do if you have the room is upgrade the ram. And as for the screen? i dont think you can realy upgrade screens at all/With ease. Unless it's an asus c90 :P.

oh...to upgrade your screen is same as replacing a new one. It will cost you hundreds of bucks and it's totally not worth it. You can add up $100-200 to buy a new laptop.

The new CPU will not fit.

What is wrong with the screen? Is something wrong with the actual screen itself, or is it a bad inverter or wiring harness? If inverter or harness, expect a relatively cheap repair, plus a bit of dismantling to swap out the parts. If the entire screen needs replacement...you're most likely in for a pricing disappointment.

Have you done any troubleshooting yet? Or have you removed the screen itself from the base and opened it up to check for loose connectors, frayed/broken wires, etc?

well,
you might as well buy a new laptop,,,way easier

I think you should buy a new laptop. But you can upgrade your cpu. Join Dell forums and they have more info on what the biggest cpu you can go with and they can help you with what screen you need.

Lol, a year later and he still trying to find these answer's? As I like to say google is a beautiful thing.
