Dell Overhaul

Hi Guys,
I've currently got a Dell Dimension 5000 desktop, which is about 5 years old. It's still running great, but i don't use it much as i have my own laptop, (it's a family computer) Since, me and my sister both have laptops now, by brother want's one too. I've convinced him it would be much better if we did a bit of an overhaul on the Dell.

He's got a 20'' LCD TV, mounted on the wall, so that would be the monitor, and i'll but the case in his wardrobe. I'm going to get a wireless keyboard and mouse, so he can control everything from his desk. In terms of hardware, it's currently running a Pentium 4 with HT @ 3.0GHz, with a stock Dell mobo, 1GB RAM, 128mb Old ATi Radeon GPU, Stock Dell PSU, 160GB HDD, DVD RW. He's only 10, so i was considering just moving everything to a new gaming style case, lit up with all L.E.D. fans, etc, he would love that. I was planning on sticking another 2GB of RAM, and a new half decent GPU. Just wondering if this would be possible really?

If worst comes to worst, i might just buy a new mobo, and use all the components from the Dell.

What do you guys think?

Budget 100 pounds max. (Sorry, my keyboards decided to configure itself to US for some reason)

what kind of slot is used for the GPU (ie. AGP, PCI, PCIe)?

sticking more ram into that computer would work.

A nice case is going to cost you 50+, new ram 25+ leaving 25 or less for a video card. He needs more money if hes going to upgrade it.

PCIe for GPU

I've found 2GB for 20 quid.

He's picked a case, with 550w PSU, for 35 quid.

Then the GPU, whatever's left

Just make sure you get the right RAM.

400- and 533-MHz DDR2 is what is supported on that computer.

Either will work, just make sure they're all the same speed. (400 or 533Mhz)
