Dell Problems

Hi Guys I guys a friend of mine just gave me a Dell P.C (I Know (lol):):)
but when I switch it on it just freeze while going into windows can anyone help me with this
 
When does it freeze?
What does the screen show?

Did booting into safemode work?

Do you know what the specs are? Or about how old is it?
 
No it starts up as normal as normal goes into windows as normal then it just freezes while loading up the programmes

specs year sure but I can't even get into my computer to check it out
 
go in the bios to have a look for the specs of the pc. other than that, try going into safe mode (press the F8 key after the post screen until a menu comes up) and let us know if it boots and works in safe mode.
 
when I go to the Boot menu it gives me the following

Boot Device Menu

*Onboard Sata H,D
*Onboard or USB CD-ROM Device

*System Setup
*Hard drive Diagnostics
*Boot Utility Partition
 
While windows is trying to load all the Programs on the P.C but ,It won't even allow me click on the start button
 
ok next thing you could try is to boot it in safe mode and create yourself a new user then reboot into normal windows and log on as that user then see if it still does the same.
 
Ok I restarted the P.C to see if it would work again in Normal windows mode
and it didn't , Now its working in Safe mode either , Can't I just reinstall windows
without having to go into Windows
 
if you've got the disc then yeh, just boot from cd then make sure you delete the partition(s) and then make a new ntfs partition and instal it on that. let me know if you need any help
