Hey

I have a dell 3100, its about 2 years old. I want to install the os (xp media) but the pc didnt come with any OS disks. Niether did it come with a program for me to create these disks.

Any pointers as to how to reinstall the os? Ctrl+F11 doesnt do anyting, and there are no dell programs that appear to work?

thanks

Joe

When did you press Ctrl+F11? Right after you turn the system on, hold down Ctrl and keep pressing F11 as quick as you can. It's possible that you may have just missed the window to do so. AFAIK, every Dell PC with XP from 2005-ish shipped with the Recovery partition.

hey

there is no way on earth that crtl+F11 does anything. I have had the system as dual boot with linux for about two years using two seperate disks.

I dunno, maybe im gonna have to buy a new disk? I already have the licence key, can I not download a copy of xp media centre?

Dell you send you a new one for like 10-20 dollars. You shouldn't use a non-OEM install disk, though. You need specific Dell drivers.
