Dell screen brightness

Does anybody know how to increase the brightness of the screen on a Dell Latitude D400 laptop when the power lead is disconnected? The screen is too dull when just running on batteries.

try using the blue fn key and then the keys that look like suns. they should point up and down.

It burns the battery down faster though, be cautious..
