My friend had me look at their Dell Studio 1537 because it had a lot of problems. Long story short I removed infections and backed the data up and did a clean install of Windows 7 on it. All the drivers are found and loaded. It had Windows Vista on it before. Before it had a problem with the webcam not working and not being detected. The BIOS has no setting for the webcam. I thought maybe installing windows 7 after vista was being buggy would do the trick. Nope. The hinge around the cover is cracked and partly broken from what looks like a bad fall. So I thought I would replace the cover and hinges and replace the webcam and cable because it looked torn. So I fixed all those things and it still is not showing the integrated webcam nor is the integrated audio from the same unit. The new cable and new webcam were connected right and it's not working. My next thought is that maybe it's the motherboard since it looks like it took an impact? What do you guys think?
