dell win xp

hi guys i had a couple probems with my pc, so i installed windows xp again, problem is now it has a dell support center icon on my start menu right underneath control panel, is there anyway to remove since mi comp is not a dell
 
Try looking on ebay for some install disks...you might find something that will work for cheap...not sure though. Never looked for something like that.

Yeah, some that are the five-finger discount... :)

Most things in that start menu, you can't remove, that must be somthing Dell altered in the basic set-up of the Start menu...
 
If you've enabled Drag and Drop for your start menu, why not just Drag and Drop the icon to the Recycle Bin? Or try, anyway.
What I'd like to know is how you managed to get a Dell disk to work with an HP PC. I might be wrong, but I have read repeatedly that Dell XP disks require a valid Dell BIOS string during the installation to work.

How recently was this, it might be true of newer PCs, but I don't think it is for mine. And mine is about 4 years old...
 
found out how

you right click on the start bar and hit properties, then hit customize and then the advanced tab, then you unclick manafacturer's link
