Dell XPS issues

Hi all :)

I plugged the charger from a lower powered adapter of an other dell laptop into my xps and it still ran, although it came up with a warning about not charging, will this effect my warrenty?

I also am experiencing some problems unrelated to this, should I get a refund:

Hi ~:)

have an issue with the 3 usb ports, sometimes they don't work and sometimes they do. Also the hibernate works intermittently and when it stalls I have to resort to holding the power button, temped to get a replacement or reinstall win 7. Overall I'm disappointed

Booting

Since I wasn't able to make a new thread I took advantage of this one. I got a Dell xps m1710, havn't used it for a while. Its got a windows 7 operating system. The screen is all gray when I start it, but it worked to formate it the last time. So my question is to you; what Function key do I need to press while starting it from the cd which will reformate it?

If you have the dell restore partition it would be CTRL+F11 key when you see the windows logo to access the restore ,

Are you restoring because of the grey screen ? If so then surely a driver issue ,Which can be resolved without wiping the drive ,

Dell logo not windows /facepalm

Do you see anything at all when booting like the bios or dell logo? if not, it maybe the video card. it has this known issue, I have one that I have to repaire the video board.
Cheers.
