dell xps laptop

my mom has a dell xps laptop and it has problems.
it will turn on and try to boot vista and it like scans for files and it stop on a dll called "esent.dll" well i found the file online and need a way to search my mom hd and put the dll in. so my question is how can i do this, i do have a adopter from laptop to ide desktop.

well i found the file on the laptop but it wont let me delete it so i found a program to force delete it but it wouldnt work.

Just so you know if you didn't see it on that page, I believe a repair you keep all your personal files it just sets all factory files(Operating System files) back to their original's.
