Denial of service attacks.

I have had a problem with somone DDoSing me for the passed week. My ISP(optimum online) will not change my IP.

Im suffering from extreme packet loss.

Im barely able to use my phone...

I have a 30/5 line.

Is there anything I can do to defend myself?

Although the person cant keep going forever...

Do you connect to the internet through a router or modem? Most routers have stateful inspection firewalls built in that are designed to protect you from DoS attacks. If you don't have a router then you should pick one up with SPI firewall protection. If you do own a router make sure the firmware is updated and you have all firewall features enabled, however if it is an old router don't expect it to do much good. In terms of software firewalls look into higher end ones that provide Stateful inspection (SPI).

Also whenever you're not using the internet it would just make sense to unplug the modem until you get the issue sorted out...
