desktop and chromebook or surface pro 4?

I'm confused,
I want to sell my computer (macbook) and get a new one i'll get somewhere about 900$-1000$ for it. I don't now what to get, i can get a dell desktop for 610$ (includes keyboard and mouse)+ the Asus chromebook flip c100 with 4GB RAM, it would be my secondary computer for school and media consumption. or to just get the surface pro 4 for 1200$. or if anyone can give an alternative for the surface for cheaper price it would be nice particularly a lightweight laptop that can be a tablet as well.

I'm also confused, comparing a desktop, to a Windows tablet, to a chromebook just doesn't make any sense at all. Are you looking for a desktop, tablet, laptop, or chromebook? Once you have that decided, then you can look at different models.
 
i'm comparing a desktop and a cheap laptop (chromebook) to a windows high end laptop that cost around a thousand dollars. it doesn't matters which model..
 
This sounds entirely like a personal preference question.

A chromebook or surface isn't going to touch desktop performance for certain workloads. That being said the desktop you listed isn't particularly amazing.
 
Building a pc is easy. We can even help you on the stuff you aren't sure about. Just ask us before you attempt to do anything you aren't sure of.
 
so you don't recommend a case+power supply combo?

and where can i shave a 100$ because my budget is 750$ without monitor?
RAM and motherboard maybe? (i can use 8 or 12).

doesn't the processor (i5) come with a CPU fan included?

The power supplies that comes in the case are always garbage. Right now, you can get that case/psu combo at newegg for $34.99. A good 430 watt power supply alone will cost you around $40. So that is a deterrent right there.

The I5 6500 does come with a stock cooler. You can also cut the dvd burner drive i listed if you are able to put the windows 10 install on a usb drive. You can save more on the motherboard if you are willing to go down to a micro atx board.
 
i have a usb disk drive, will that work for installing windows?
and what's the difference between atx and micro atx?
 
A usb external drive will work for install. Micro atx are just cheaper smaller motherboards. If you won't be gaming then you really don't need the larger atx board.

You may also be able to drop down to 8gb of ram instead of 16gb depending on what your doing with the system. I noticed you aren't from the USA so the prices on pcpartpicker will be different for your location.

If you don't like that case, you can pick whatever you want, I just chose one that I like to use for client builds.
