well even with the stock cooler the 960t is so cool you could pull her close to 4.7-5 ghz i'd bet, and it can unlock the 2 extra cores since it's really a underclocked thuban 6 core with 2 cores dissabled, although the extra cores aren't guarenteed.
 
it makes your system faster, and it only really shortens the life when its overheating, and if this cpu doesn't overheat as a 6-core closer to 3.3ghz, then it should be able to do at least 3.6ghz no prob, and even if it is shortening the life, not much, these cpus can last veryyy long, i still have a daily used athlon xp, and those came out in 1999, had it since at latest 02, think it was in 01 we got it, and it's a compaq too, although it isn't overclocked, but also you can get a cooler master hyper 212 plus and get that thing at 4ghz for under 30 bucks.
 
Yeah newegg does win, but it will be more convenient for me to walk down the road and switch parts or something like that you know?

Quick question, looking on my old mobo, there's a circle 3V battery. What is it?
 
that is the cmos battery, basically to keep the settings in the bios because they are on the little chips they always need power, so if the power is out or something that powers them to keep your settings, and when there is a problem and you need to clear the bios and some other pieces of the mobo, you remove it for a few mins and that does the trick.
 
What if I want to upgrade mt GTX Card to GeForce GTX 560 Ti? Do I need to get a better PSU?
or should i get Multiple GTX? is that possible? I remember reading it somewhere but i dunno if its true. and what will i need?
 
i don't see which card you picked or anything on here, and what exact psu would also help. but you can use 2 cards if the mobo is up to it, which we also need to know.

and for the cpu look at the 960t, it's cheaper, will overclock to that 3.5ghz easily, prob on the stock cooler, and can unlock to a 6 core, and if it doesn't it is a super cool running quad and only uses 95w instead of 125 like all other phenom x4s
 
no, which exact one is it, i'm guessing the cx600 cheaper model, which although it isn't the best it'll still put out enough to power almost any single card, although there are some better ones to look at for a little bit more, like the Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-620
