desktop as server

I'm thinking about using a desktop computer as a sever for an adult website that I'm starting. Do you guys think it can handle the load? Also, I have my internet through Comcast...does anyone know the limitations on, or steps leading up to my account being frozen for, too much traffic w/ only a personal account and not a business one?

Thx in advance;)

Well, considering the nature of your website, I'm pretty sure the traffic loads will be quite high, and if you aren't paying for a business connection, Comcast will definitely look into why your connection is being used so much.

it will cost you if you have your server at home ( electricity .... ) , and also the bandwith won't be enough , especially if we talk about sites that generate high traffic

agreed, my server is only a VPN/NAT and file server with 2 computer connected to it and it slows down if i pull too much data. look into a cheap website hoster, there is loads around and they dont tell you what you can and cant have, but if you have (for example) movies for download then the hosting company can give whoever (police/FBI ect.) you name, address ect but as for adult content then it fine as long as you hold the copyrights and/or you have permission to host that content

ok thx....not the answers I was hoping for, but pretty much what I was expecting. I just wanted to be sure so I didn't waste money on a server program if it wasn't worth it. back to looking for cheap dedicated hosting.:(

Thanks for the advice:good:
