Desktop beeping

My desktop won't turn on. When I press the power button, there's a beeping sound but there's nothing on the screen. What does this beeping sequence mean? Beep, then a few seconds later, beep, few seconds, beep - this goes on continuously. Is there a problem with the Processor (CPU), RAM, Video card?

is there any activity like when you press the power button is it completly dead like no lights on mobo no fans going on etc etc do the optical drives open up when power is on,

try reseting bios but i doubt it will cure it

also remove everything so its just your mobo and cpu and try it again

let me know

I had a problem with one of my desktops a couple of years back, similar experience, when I hit the power button, it just beeped and not a lot came onto the screen. Ended up being the memory. I replaced it and it worked perfectly. If you have any spare memory you could try that.

If its a same tone beep over and over, its probably memory.

If its a high and low beep tone over and over its probably the CPU overheat.

Overheat beep is funny. Sounds like you have a British cop in one of those little cars running around in your computer, bee boo, bee boo:D

Yes, the fans are running, lights are on, & the optical drives open up; but the screen is blank and the computer has the same continuous beep every few seconds.

So your BIOS won't POST. How much RAM do you have?

Can you remove all sticks but one and try booting from one stick in the first slot designated by the motherboard manufacturer?
