thought i'd start this in a new thread since components have changed so much:
a few thoughts though from your advice:
64bit windows - i need to be able to run adobe cs3 programs... but:
http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2006/12...toshop_cs.html
is there now universal support for '32 bit only' programs???
i'm aware cs4 is due to be released on 23rd of september which will support 64 bit vista... but i'm still a bit miffed about the support issues...
daisymtc recommended Gigabyte Radeon 4850 for graphics - judging by a lot of reviews the nvidia graphics cards perform a lot better than the ati ones... so i've selected an xfx geforce... thoughts on this???
daisymtc also recommended a cpu with 12mb cache... cost is considerably increased - is there really much improvement in 12mb cache for say CAD programs + gaming, is it really worth the price difference??!
ram - was thinking pc8500 as opposed to the one suggested pc6400 - only £15/$30 more???
mobo - asus or gigabyte??
here's what i'm currently spec'ing: any thoughts greatly appreciated!
