desktop computer you think this would be good for me?

HORRIBLE.

OVERPRICED.

$200 could get you WAY better. I suggest building. I had an Sempron 2600+ , 80GB, 1GB up for you until IE closed my window... Budget?

how would i be able to build a old school pc like that that would cost more then 200 wouldnt it? cuz i need something that uses agp and can run final fantasy 7 and 8 on that doesnt used a really good geforce card cuz the new cards dont support final fantasy 7 and 8's hardware mode graphics

that computer was awesome back in 2000, lol, but couldnt do much these days, isnt support for Windows 2000 done for? That HDD is rediculous, I suppose for FF7 and FF8, it would do fine, but either way good luck

well you could put xp on there, but a fresh copy of xp runs like $80 or something, thats $280 spent on a crap rig

i mean, you could spend 300-500 and get a brand new rig from hp or something that would run everything just fine, and you would get like 10 times more for your money

i wouldn't approve on that with those kinds of specs. if you're not going to game that much, 512 MB of RAM is the least you can go. Trust me, 256 mb of RAM is useless thesedays. as for the processor, thumbs down on the performance of the P4. If you're going to buy a single core processor, get one that has 2.6ghz upwards. heck, my processor is pretty powerful for a single core and it's dirt cheap.

hope this helps.;)

i actually find it humorous that tigerdirect would offer this comp, i suppose if the ONLY thing you are going to do is browse the web and word process, then that comp would be sufficient, but its extremely outdated

You joking right? Seriously right? Any, absolutely ANY new card will support that game. All "new" cards support the new things coming out AND the old things. You could play Tonka Garage with an 8800 Ultra and it wouldn't make an difference.

actually

it works in software mode but in final fantasy 8 hardware mode doesnt work to well even with the patch it doesnt help the image quality i will have to show you what im talking about heres how it comes out in hardware mode

on another website somebody written this and i wont post where cuz i dont want to spam but final fantasy 8 looks bad in software mode

now there are some issues with this game and the new generation video cards... When I used to have a geforce 4mx the game was playing fine... Now with a newer geforce 6200 there are graphic glitches when I use hardware display mode (software is fine though). This is a known issue! Its not a problem with the discs! The only way to fix the problem, is either installing an extra old pci or agp video card into your pc (dual display) or a card such as a diamond monster 3d voodoo2 (that's what I did). If you find a different way of playing the game in hardware mode with a new generation video card please let us know!!

but heres how it looks in hardware mode on my pc http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v728/FlipZam/Snap2.jpg but this is from somebody elses site not mine i just using this link to show you since i dont have 8 installed on my pc at the moment

also instead of an intel single core processor, look more into the AMD's you can get a very nice AMD 3400 for obo 40$ and they beat the intel p4 3.2 GHZ i believe...
