desktop freezing help!!!

Did you check all the other categories in there to make sure there were no errors? At this point, I don't know if doing a fresh install would help or not.

You know what, I think you should go into device manager and uninstall that cd drive. It's a shot in the dark but stranger things have happened.

ok so it seems like my pc is way better than before. It freezes for about 15 sec but every 3-4 hrs. not too bad still a little annoying. I still have the cd-rom drive unplugged. Under computer management, event viewer there are no errors that show up jus under "information" stuff comes up. stuff like: gupdate, hpqcxs08, and hpqddsvc?

EDIT: turned on computer...seems to be freezing more often now...2 errors in last hour. errors: wmi application

I would say, do a fresh install of the OS. If it still does it then you have a hardware issue.

ok well i really don't want to do a fresh install  I realize when my computer is cooler it works. when it gets warmed up it starts to freeze...i'm guessin sumething is overheating and causing my system to freeze up just dun know wat. is there any diagostic software I can run to find out wats the core problem. ?????

thanks a mill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:good:

so a couple days ago I dropped off my desktop at Fry's to find the issue. had enuff

thanks for all ur guys help!!!!!!!!!!

so i called fry's the other day to get an update on my computer. they said they coudln't dupliate the problem, which wud b my computer freezes. they said my video card is running hot 9800 GX2 (already know that) maybe it needs new artic silver and sum cleaning? wud any of my input devices possibly cause freezing...

ex. webcam, printer....?

I would ask if I could demonstrate the problem the computer is having to the Frys Electronics staff.

ya i was thinking that might be a good idea. do you think i should bring my own keyboard and all input devices connected??? they can't seem to duplicate the freezing issue. wud it be likely that any of my input devices wud cause freezing.

again it only seems to freeze when my video card gets over 130 F

maybe i shud clean out the card and reply more thermal paste. i haven't cleaned it since i got it 2 years ago. ....

I would take your keyboard, mouse and all the devices you had installed minus the monitor and attempt to recreate the problem in front of them. New thermal paste likely won't be needed but you should be blowing all the dust out of your computer at least monthly (more if your house is really dusty).

do you think its necessary to open up my video card and clean it out that way? with duster...i heard it can increase fan speed up to 30%..which cud solve my issue?

input devices freezing?

HEllo All!

Ok so i turned my pc in for diagnstics at Fry's because my computer was freezing once in awhile. I noticed it was only freezing when it was getting hot. They haven't been able to duplicate the problem (freezing)...I was curious if the freezing could be caused my one of my input devices???

input devices used:

-external HD
-printer
-mouse + keyboard G15
