Desktop Freezing

Hi all
At times the desktop freezes when I click on an icon, it remains highlighted but does nothing.The cursor turns to hand symbol and then nothing at all works when clicked. I can either reboot or end explorer.exe in task manager then restart explorer.exe and everythings OK.

What's your thoughts on explorer.exe misbehaving

What exactly does it do if I choose repair. Will it overwrite all system files or is it intelligent enough to determine a corrupt file and replace that only.

Have you ran some scans with your anti-virus, also ran spybot search and destroy, defrag

when you say repair , do you mean windows repair ? yeah that wll work but windows repair replaces everything in windows,system32 etc...
but do like anbush said.. better to scan or post logs as it can be a simple problem

Thanks guys, I've scanned and nothing shows up but I've posted a log in Security section.
Looking in admin services "system history" on my computer though it shows "warning" "pageing fault" and as I was backing up gigs of photo data perhaps the memory ran short as Virtual memory was manually set. I've now set it to let windows handle it.
