Can I remove the icons and make more space for more links ? I've tried making the icon very small but still it won't allow me to move the icons closer together, I would like to use just the script if that lets me add more links.
 
if you have enable auto arrange you should disable that and just manually drag the icon as you see fit. thats the only way or make ur computers dpi smaller than normal than you can fit more icons.
 
You can also change the icon spacing in the Display Properties>Appearance>Advanced tab.

Then, you will have to drop down the list and select Icon Spacing-horizontal and vertical.
 
Thanks a lot everyone, my computer had a grid that had to be disabled, now I can move the icons wherever I want, as for the icons I went through properties and changed it to a small red * . but now there is also a small black arrow in a white box, and then the script, so the actual size has not really changed much, I've gained room by disabling the grid and keeping the script to a minimum, I'll see what the DisplayProperties>Appearance>
Advanced tab does for me.
