Desktop is acting up again

Hello,

I just got my motherboard back from the manufacturer and it was working great. I decided I wanted a little more hard drive space on there and added some other hard drives from an old desktop that was turning to dust so I put them in their. I also scavanged an old graphics card out of the old desktop and put that in their. I restarted it and now it's not working. I removed the extra hard drives and the other video card and still not working.

I get a bios beep (single short beep) and the motherboard splash screen then black screen. I've removed and replaced the CMOS battery but to no avail.

Please help, I run a local minecraft server on it and need it very soon. Thanks for your help.

Motherboard is MSI 990FXA-GD80

Just removing the battery won't do anything. Remove power cord from power supply, remove cmos battery, press and hold the power button on the case for 10 seconds, then wait 10 minutes. Reinsert battery, reconnect power and try booting up.

Thank you for the reply, I am waiting for the 10 minutes to pass right now. What does this do and why did this happen in the first place?

That worked!!! I got to a new screen with e7640ams bios on it and i ran it through set up. Thank you so much!!!

Its always better to leave the cord (earth) plugged in when discharging the motherboard and bios. Just leave turn the wall and PSU switches off (the earth is always connected).
