I am looking to get a desktop preferably for gaming. I have been reading things for the past hour and can't figure out whether i should build it myself or use a website to get one custom built...Im not really wanting to push $1000 with a monitor, but I do want a nice gaming pc that won't be able to run anything in 3 years. If anyone can guide me towards some good custom building sites or barebone kits I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

One site that deals mainly with bare bones kits can be seen at http://3btech.net/barebones.html Just about every popular online vendor carries their own building kits. That site there deals mostly with gaming cases you can put together yourself.

For under $1,000 you can pretty much build a decent gaming system without all of the thrills added. You just have to be smart about which hardwares you pick out and leave room if needed for upgrading at a later date. Rushing out to spend hundreds on a video card just to run a few games would be pointless since the price often drops fast when the next model comes out.

By shopping around you can find video cards alone that everyone raved about a year ago now being seen at times for under $100. A pair of 1gb dimms depending on type(DDR? DDR2?) of memory will meet the need there. The cpu and board along with case and method of cooling are the larger concerns. If you plan on ocing more money will go on cooling.

Check out this site, has alot of barebones kits you can customize. They do an excellent job on wire managment too, got a system from them and they made it all neat inside.
