Desktop problems

New to this forum but I got a quick question, awhile back my windows XP Compaq computer just shut off out of the blue..I thought hmm maybe it had over heated waited about an hour tryed to cut it on nothing...what do you think might be up? Could it have been the processor?

So it won't turn on at all? That has to be an internal problem. It could be a number of things. You're going to have to take it to a shop or poke around in there yourself.
You might want to double check your power pack and the AC connection to your laptop. Maybe it went bad or it's not all the way in.

Its a Desktop and ive tore the whole thing apart and ive checked out the mother board no signs of shorting out, nothing seems to be burnt out, the power supply turns on but nothing else does not even the cpu fan. So i traced it to the processor because I thought well maybe it got fried and stopped sending information to everthing and shut off? The computer was about 3 or 4 years old...
