Hi everybody,
Don't know if I am posting this in the right spot but here's my problem. When I start my other pc the only thing iI get is Nav Auto-Protect

Unable to determine the location of the configuration files.

Anyone one know what the problem could be?
Any help would be appreciated.

Does it completely lock the computer? If so boot into Safe mode, and uninstall then reinstall it...

Or just get rid of Norton! :) You will be much happier!

yeah everything locks
I am not very computer literate

what do you mean? uninstall windows and install it again?

no, just uninstall norton, and reinstall it, or another antivirus program if at all possible. 'avg free' is great, just google it and install that instead of norton. make sure you uninstall everything norton first, and everything symantec too.

unfortunately the only way to completely get rid of norton is to either re install windows or over write the regestry with a saved copy from before you had norton because symantec leaves registry keys in there even after you've uninstalled everything, wonderful eh?

anyway if you don't know how to completely uninstall windows and reinstall it you could try a repair install which consistes of putting in your windows disc before the computer totally boots up and then when it comes to the windows instillation screen hit R for repair that might fix your problem

i use system mechanic to clean my registry. it gets rid of the entries from programs i no longer have installed, or does it? i've completely removed norton a few times.

anyway, if all norton and symantec programs are uninstalled from add/remove programs in the control panel, i'm pretty sure the problem he is having will go away. no need to go overboard on the solution to a simple problem.

Removing NAV auto protect

If you've got probs removing any/all applications from norton antivirus, usually running the setup you used to install it in the first place will give you the options to remove, repair and modify. Just run the Norton Antivirus setup again as if your installing it.

Failing that vist Symantec.com, where you can search for Norton antivirus (xxxx) (xxxx being the version your using 2006 e.t.c) removal. There your be able to download a small removal tool, which uninstall Norton for you.

I tryed to repair using the instalalation disk and didn't get anywhere. All I get is the wallpaper on the screen and nothing else but the mouse. No icons and can't get to control panel or anything. How can I get past this?
Thanks

Well, it seems that something's got screwed up. When you boot the PC and it strts to load Windows, try Safe mode. Then try to uninstal that P.O.S (Because it's really one) and then, use the registry mechanics. Then, get something like Avast!
