Desktop Shut Off

Randomly today my computer just shut off, tried booting up, it shut off again, though I had my side panel open so I could have bumped something. When I try to boot up, it shows my monitor being on, the red idle light comes on, says something about power, then shows a black screen, usually it'll flash my BIOS then boot up. I tried replacing the GPU, by using my secondary card as my main card, and tried booting up with another drive, same result..

The only major thing I changed recently was my CPU cooler, went to the V8.. And I opened my PSU just to check my fan, so..

Any ideas?

It turns out it was my V8.. I put my stock cooler in and it worked just fine.

I didn't add the 4 washers to it, because that was a step B, and step A seemed to work, so..

What can I do to make the V8 work again?

You mean the new cooler wasn't coming on? What exactly are you saying you think the issue with the V8 was?

Oh, sorry, I didn't add enough detail.

What I meant by getting the V8 to work again, was on my mobo, I'm currently running stock.

Could the V8 have caused my PC to shut off? I forgot to add the washers, and it was my first time installing a backplate CPU.

Thanks.

Without the washers it was prolly shorting the mobo, try adding the washers and then installing again.

Hey, 99% That Its Your Power Supply. But It Could Also Be Your Motherboard. Soo CHeck Both And See What Happens.

I was thinking around the same thing but I can't see a new CPU cooler taxing his PSU that much more than the stock one. There'd possibly be a minimal increase in power draw but the OP would most likely just see intermittent issues not not being able to boot completely.
