Desktop will not start up

I just brought my desktop back from college, hooked it up and it started up fine, I turned it off to plug in all the other junk and it wouldn't turn back on.

I opened it up and the motherboard light is on, when I press the on button you can here it try to beep so the on button should not be broken.

So I am assuming its the motherboard battery or the power supply. have I diagnosed this correctly? And should I try to replace the motherboard battery first?
 
i had a computer where the comp would start after the PSU was not used for like a few days, then it would work for a bit, but wen it was turned off, wouldn't turn back on for a few days (would try to boot but fail)

replaced the PSU works fine now. I diagnosed it with a PSU for a different computer though, and that may not be an option for you. I think you can try a voltmeter to test the PSU if you can get a hold of one.
 
I would first unplug everything and try to boot with just the basic pc first, if that goes well then add your other bits
 
ok, I tried booting it with just the basic PC, no change. I changed the Lithium Battery, no change. The only indicator that there is power is the green light on the motherboard when it is plugged in. So should I buy another PSU or is there a chance it is the motherboard even though the PSU doesn't start up at all?
 
I got it to start up about 10 minutes after removing everything and it plugged in but I can't get it started up again now. Do yall still still agree its probably the PSU?
