Device Manager

Hi folks, just a question about channels in the device manager

I attached a picture of my device manager as you will see, I have 3 channels showing, I have 3 sata devices connected which account for the channels,
but i have been told that these channels should not be showing and it is because my AHCI drivers are not installed properly

If my AHCI drivers were in properly they should close up into one single ata controller

Can anyone confirm this and also would it make any difference to the performance of the system.

Thanks

Mine looks like this:
Before anyone says anything, the yellow question mark is my wireless card that is not supported in W7, but works with XP and Linux Mint that I multi-boot.

Your channels are also displayed, do you know if that is how they should be or if they should be closed into a single controller.

All the Channels will show if in AHCI mode or not. It looks fine.
This.

The controllers show up as IDE controllers anyway, so apparently you just have AHCI mode disabled in your BIOS. There really isn't much of a difference and anyway you probably would have to reinstall Windows if you changed it now (not sure if that applies these days, but it used to be the case with XP and IIRC even Vista), so I would just leave it alone.
