Diablo 2...

I got a new laptop and it has 256mb sytem RAM and 64mb shared video RAM. When I play Diablo 2 it plays great exept for the occasional frame skip like when I open a chest or when I switch weapons. My question... if I upgraded to 512mb system RAM would performance increase at all or will it do nothing.

i would say that there would be no performance change because the system requirements are well below your specs. besides, it runs fine with my pentium three laptop.

it might be worth in future to upgrade to 512 anyway, but for games that comp isnt that good. shared is not so good for gaming

Maybe some virus protection thing or some virus? It seems wierd, I had a computer with 32mb Vram and it worked fine.

It runs on windows xp home and there are no viruses because it isnt even connected to the internet... I'm thinking it has something to do with the "shared" video RAM... It must not be very good for gaming.

1.yea i think u should go fr 512MB RAm

2. Occasional frame skip means some swap file on HDD or some HDD access.

3. the game may be suffering due to some program running in background. When playing the game shut down all the unecessary software running in background (in taskbar area). Even ur Anti-virus will cause some problems.
