Diagnosis: BAD!

i dropped my old desktop i use for downloading into the computer shop two days ago for it to have the PSU replaced. I rang the shop at 2:00pm today to see if it was ready to pick up and they told me it was been worked on as we spoke and they would call me when it was ready. after no call i rang them at five and was not greeted with good news.

when the PSU died it took the motherboard with it (selfish soab) and because the pc is old they cant get a new mobo for it so i would have to replace the CPU too and the ram. :mad: which would be about $500AUD that i didn't have so i am just salvaging the parts i could.

narr i just got a laptop a month ago.

the desktop was just an old banger i got off a friend when he bought a new one. i was just planning to replace the PSU and use it for downloading movies and music so i didn't get viruses on my laptop. well that was the plan lol.

When i blew my mobo I went to ebay and looked for a replacement Motherboard. It was $20, and it worked great. I would try it if I were you. Cant hurt.
 
mmm well i have no idea wat the mobo is and the computer will be in bits in the shop right about now. and i think they were going to throw away the CPU aswell.

oh and tom, when i was talking to the bloke on the phone i didn't hint that i wanted to keep the bits were no good. i just told him the bits i did want to keep because that was before trizoy suggested getting a new mobo from ebay.

I'm sure you can get all of those old parts again.......There are websites that still carry old parts, you can also try ebay.
