Diagnosis Please

So I was on my computer one night everything was fine and shut it down like usual no problems. The next day I hit the power and nothing happens. I check all the cords and all the basics with no luck. I open it up and plug it in to see that the light on the motherboard does not light up. Do you think this is a problem with the power supply? I built the computer about 5 years ago. I am not in front of it now so I cant give you all the components but I believe the power supply is 500 or 550 watts. I have never had any problems in the past with this sort of thing. If you need more details I can provide them when I get home but if this is most likely a power supply issue please let me know so that I can order a new one ASAP.

Thanks

Most likely a power supply issue since the light on the motherboard isn't lit. First thing to check would be to make sure that the power cord is tightly inserted into the power supply and the wall outlet or power strip.

yeh i checked all that stuff first before I opened it up. Even tried changing power cords. I have no problem buying a new one but should I go with higher wattage or do PSU's burn out after so long (say 5 years)?

Thanks

I think it is antec trupower 500 or 550 not sure which one. However I could be wrong about the brand/model but I believe thats what I have. My rig is in a antec p180 case.
